CRRT WORKSHOP
This elective workshop will take place on Sunday and Monday, March 6&7, 2022. Registration is available for an additional fee.
Practice Based Learning in CRRT: The Science and the Art
This workshop is designed to provide participants with the knowledge and understanding for decision making for the effective utilization of CRRT to manage critically ill patients. The workshop will utilize case based discussions to illustrate the underlying concepts for application of CRRT. Delegates will participate in group exercises to apply their learning for the management of complex cases. At the end of this workshop participants will have an improved understanding of how to utilize CRRT for optimizing renal support. A quiz will be administered pre-and post-course for assessment.
PRE-CONFERENCE AKI SYMPOSIUM
This elective symposium will take place on Monday, March 7, 2022. Registration is available for an additional fee. You may register to attend only this Symposium.

Changing Paradigms in Acute Kidney Injury:
From Mechanisms to Management
Acute Kidney Injury is a rapidly evolving area where several advances have been made in understanding the mechanisms and pathways of AKI and its effects on other organs. Recent identification of biomarkers has provided new tools and techniques to characterize this disorder. This pre-course workshop will provide a comprehensive review of the most recent developments in the field and describe emerging knowledge from basic and translational research. Results from clinical trials will be discussed to define the best strategies for effective management of patients and define the criteria for future studies.
MEET THE EXPERT
Seating is Limited. These elective breakfast sessions (choose from 2 on Tue., Wed. & Thur.) allow participants to meet and interact with internationally renowned experts in an informal roundtable session. This is an excellent opportunity to ask questions, learn how these experts manage patients, get guidance for projects and network. These sessions are available for an additional fee of $50.00.
INDUSTRY SESSIONS (Optional, Non-CME)
These optional sessions are being planned now and are presented by industry representative to bring you the latest information from related organizations.
REGISTRATION AWARDS FOR FELLOWS IN TRAINING, NURSES AND ALLIED PROFESSIONALS
Fellows in an accredited training program, Nurses and Allied Professionals who submit a poster abstract to be presented at the CRRT Conference may be eligible to apply for Registration Awards for the conference. Sponsorship for the awards is currently being sought and will be announced soon. Awards will be based on the quality and relevance of the research as judged by the abstract review committee. Recipients are required to be present at the Poster Sessions.
IMPORTANT NOTICE RE: Credit Claiming Deadlines & Certificate Issuance
Certificates will be issued digitally after Speaker Evaluations and Overall Surveys are completed. Surveys are accessible after logging in starting the first day of the conference with the email address and password you submitted during registration. The link to access the surveys will be posted on this webpage. Please complete the surveys by TBD (deadline to claim credit/evaluation close).
CONFERENCE LEARNER OBJECTIVES
The AKI & CRRT conference provides a comprehensive review of advances in clinical care, research and technology in critical care medicine with a focus on the kidney and renal support techniques. The conference is designed to facilitate interdisciplinary interactions among caregivers involved in the management of patients in intensive care units. Physicians, nurses, pharmacists, nutritionists and other allied personnel from industry have opportunities to learn from each other. The conference utilizes a combination of invited lectures; case based small group workshops, debates, hands on interactive and simulation based workshops. Attendees have an opportunity to interact with the faculty through focused panel discussions and symposia.
At the end of this conference attendees should be able to:
1. Describe the recent advances in the pathophysiology and management of critically ill patients with a focus on sepsis, multi-organ failure, infections, lung and kidney injury in different settings.
2. Discuss the best ways to identify, treat and follow up patients with acute kidney injury (AKI) resulting from different causes utilizing biomarkers, imaging and lab studies and applying educational tools to raise awareness of AKI.
3. Describe the principles and practice of renal replacement techniques including CRRT, IHD and plasma exchange and demonstrate how to setup and use these techniques for managing critically ill patients.
Dear Colleague,
We would like to invite you to join us for the upcoming 27th International Conference on Advances in Critical Care Nephrology – AKI & CRRT 2022.
The conference will be back LIVE and IN-PERSON in San Diego, California at the beautiful Hilton San Diego Bayfront. Our 27th Conference will continue to provide a comprehensive coverage of the rapidly developing field of Critical Care Nephrology and CRRT. It highlights the recent advances in our understanding of pathophysiology of critical illness, acute kidney injury, emerging strategies in the management of sepsis, multiorgan failure, development and use of biomarkers, technical advances in CRRT and the appropriate utilization of these techniques. This year’s program presents exciting new developments and evidence for assessing critically ill patients, the role of the microbiome and advances in the global burden of AKI CRRT. A mix of invited lectures, controversies, interactive workshops, tutorials, poster sessions and panel discussions are planned to continue the tradition of multidisciplinary interactions.
Again this year we are offering a Pre-Conference AKI Symposium titled Changing Paradigms in Acute Kidney Injury: From Mechanisms to Management. The workshop will provide a comprehensive review of the most recent developments in the field and include the proceedings from the recent ADQI conferences on AKI in the era of Big Data and Renal Recovery. We hope that this course will provide participants an opportunity to interact with experts in the field and emerge with a better understanding of this rapidly evolving area.
